  • Use this form to submit an application to Asset College for QLD Government funding to subsidise the cost of an approved General Training Certificate II or III level qualification.

    Career Start is one of the Queensland Government’s core funded vocational education and training (VET) programs, managed by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET).

  • This declaration is required to be submitted with all applications for enrolment using the Career Start or Back to Work funding. If you are unsure of anything, please contact your nearest Asset College office on 1300 731 602 or email study@asset.edu.au.

    Applicants must meet ALL of these criteria and supply supporting evidence in order to receive approval for the funding.

    Security, First Aid and CPR Courses

    Physical Training is a component of some Security Training programs.

    To participate in this training/assessment requires a degree of physical exertion.

    Security techniques include unbalancing, leverage, the application of joint manipulation and scenarios that involve managing violent behaviour.

    First Aid techniques include performing CPR by kneeling on the floor for two (2) minutes and demonstrating safe manual handling through scenarios that involve simulated medical emergencies. 

    Manual Handling means lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving loads.

    • Applications are subject to approval by Asset College’s Head Office. Submitting a completed application does not guarantee approval of funding. Training cannot commence until you have received written confirmation of your application being approved.
    • Availability of funding is subject to change without notice at the discretion of the Queensland Government.
    • Applicants are only eligible to receive funding for a general qualification at certificate III and an apprenticeship/traineeships, noting that if the apprenticeship/traineeship is done first, the individual is no longer eligible to access a general qualification under Career Start; or two apprenticeship/traineeships at either certificate II or III, including school-basedapprenticeships or traineeships (SATs). In addition, individuals may access one subsidised introductory-level skill set.
    • Participants must provide additional information / feedback to Asset College within three months of completing their qualification.
    • Student co-contribution fees must be paid to Asset College prior to course commencement. Co-contribution fees will be handled in line with the refund policy.
    • Student co-contribution fees may vary depending on the course location and delivery method.
    • Applicants who are registered Job Seekers should consult their Job Active Provider prior to submitting an application. Your Job Active Provider may be able to provide additional support services and/or pay the student co-contribution fees for eligible applicants.
    • Additional terms and conditions will be outlined on the application forms and are subject to change.
    • Participants are required to submit and pay for their own industry licence applications (where applicable). These costs are not included in the student contribution fee or funding subsidy.
    • Students can only access Career Start through approved training providers (Skills Assure Suppliers).
    • The amount of Subsidy provided will depend on the demand for skilled workers in the area of study.

  • Privacy Statement

    The Queensland Government allocates funding for participants to undertake qualifications under the Career Start Program. Asset College has been approved to deliver training and assessment for qualifications which eligible participants will be entitled to undertake under the Career Start Program. The personal information you provide will be collected and used by Asset College for the purposes of:

    • assessing your eligibility for the Career Start Program;
    • if you are eligible to participate in the Career Start Program, all aspects of enrolment, administration and delivery of the qualification; and
    • advising your Workforce Australia Provider and/or Employer (if applicable) of your participation and attendance in training.

    Asset College may also collect and disclose your personal information to the Queensland Government Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET) and other Australian Government agencies for the purposes of:

    • confirming your eligibility for participation in this program;
    • informing DTET that you have enrolled in an approved qualification;
    • informing DTET of your completion, non-completion or withdrawal from an approved qualification;
    • reporting to DTET’s Ministers and other Members of Parliament on the Career Start Program;
    • monitoring the service given by Asset College to you and your satisfaction with the Career Start Program; and
    • DTET generally administering the Career Start Program.

    Asset College and DTET may also disclose your personal information to another person, body or agency without your consent where authorised or required by law.

If necessary, Asset College may request a Statutory Declaration relating to specific clauses in this agreement where insufficient evidence has been supplied.
